My Nominating Letter

EndorsingIn 2017, the 75th Anniversary of The Internment of Japanese Americans, I nominated Michi Nishiura Weglyn, one of eight Liberty High School students interned for recognition as a distinguished Alumni. Unfortunately the selection committee selected three other more recent graduates for this honor I contyinue to believe however, that Michi's life is an example of how one person can make a real difference and that the experience of Michi, her 7 classmates from Liberty and all tthose who were subject to internment illustrate the importance of recognizing, appreciating, and striving to protect and enforce everyone's natural rights.
